Doctors
Nadine N. Nanbu DVM – Dr. Nanbu is a graduate of Mid Pacific Institute. She obtained her Bachelors of Animal Science from the University of Hawaii and Bachelors of Veterinary Science from Washington State University. She graduated from Washington State University School of Veterinary Medicine and returned back to Hawaii to practice.
Dr. Nanbu’s many interests include crafts of all kinds, reading, and hiking. She has a special interest in dog training and behavior. She has been involved in dog agility, obedience, rally and nosework. She also volunteers and trains one of her dogs for search and rescue.
She currently has 2 birds (a parrot and cockatoo), 2 cats (rescued as injured kittens) and 2 dogs (a Chocolate Lab and a Border Collie-Australian Shepherd mix).
Caren C. Tamura DVM – Dr. Tamura is a graduate of Mid-Pacific Institute. She got her Bachelors degree and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at Colorado State University. Her interests include crafts, reading and traveling. Dr. Tamura currently has 2 dogs – a Lab mix and a Corgi mix, which along with her 3 children keeps her very busy.
Elden T. Uruu DVM – Dr. Uruu grew up in Hawaii where he attended Aiea High School. He earned his Bachelors degree and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at Colorado State University. In his free time Dr. Uruu enjoys swimming, going to the movies and travel (favorite places to visit – Japan, Las Vegas and Disneyland). He currently has two cats, both former strays at the clinic.
Technicians
Donna – (Head Technician and Practice Manager) – Donna has been a veterinary technician for over 35 years. In her spare time she enjoys dog training, obedience, rally, agility and nosework. She has a special interest in canine behavior and has attended multiple courses. She currently owns 3 dogs and 1 cat. The youngest of her dogs, Diesel was stray dog found on Kauai and is now a search and rescue dog for the state of Hawaii.
Natalie – Natalie has been a veterinary technician for about 8 years after teaching high school for 11 years. She loves working with animals and the excitement of seeing something new every day. She has two cats – both rescued from the parking lot of the clinic. In her spare time she enjoys time with her family and going to the beach.
Lani – Lani is an avid animal lover and owns 2 dogs and 4 cats. She is a Bachelor of Science candidate in Biology at the University of Hawaii with designs on grad school for Conservation Biology. Lani has always hoped to one day work in the non-profit or research sector improving animal care and conservation. She dreams of being the next female Steve Irwin.
Daniel – Daniel was born and raised on the island of O’ahu and currently has an English Bulldog puppy that matches his name, “Diablo”. In his spare time, he likes to take care of his plants, especially tropical pitcher plants and the endangered state flower, Ma’o Hau Hele.
Lindsay – Before working as a veterinary technician, Lindsay worked with primates and big cats in a zoo and helped monitor the population of endangered birds and tortoises. She has one dog that she rescued from the Fur Angel Foundation. In her free time she likes hiking, playing fetch with her dog “Frankie” and volunteering with a seabird rehabilitation facility and as a conservation educator on the North Shore.
Receptionists
Erin (Assistant manager) – Erin has been with the clinic for over 15 years. Her love for animals began at the age of 3, when she acquired her first Pomeranian and she hasn’t been without a furry friend since. She has been working with dogs for over 25 years, from obedience, agility, conformation and the 3 R’s (rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing). When she’s not busy with taking care of rescues, most of her spare time is spent caring for her own “p-nut gallery” which currently consist of Chihuahuas, Pomskies, and of course, Pomeranians!
Fran (Assistant manager) – Fran has been working at the clinic for over 15 years. She loves animals, especially dogs and loves spending time with her son, Noah. Fran has an excellent memory, so don’t be surprised when you walk in the door that she knows you and your pet by name. She loves the color purple, butterflies, glitter and the city of Boston.
Sara – Sara is a California native who moved here from Colorado. She comes from a big family of animal lovers and because of that love she enjoys working with animals today. On occasion she helps foster kittens and then finds them homes. That’s how her cat “Eli” joined her family. Outside of the clinic, most of her time is spent with her husband Josh and two crazy boxers “Miles” and “Remi”! She also enjoys hiking, traveling and trying all the best foods the island has to offer.
